MEMORIES, PICTURES, QUOTES - 2011/2012

Cited from PrepVolleyball.com regarding CJV 15 Infinity - Brian Rosen, CJV 15 Infinity: "Our most memorable moment was our first tournament of the season, Monument City. Going into the tournament we had no idea how good we were, or what we were capable of. The week of the tournament one of our players got a high ankle sprain, which sidelined her for Monument City and the next four weeks. At 3am the night before Day 1 of the tournament, I receive messages from two players that they are throwing up. In the morning, two more are now feeling sick. However, every player showed up eager to play. At the scorer's table, one of the healthy players throws up right next to me. This triggers one of our few healthy players to have to run to the bathroom sick. We were down to only four healthy players. However, not one of them sat out, and we went undefeated all the way to gold playoffs the final day. In the semifinals we defeated Triangle 15 Black in three. In the championship, running on fumes and with nothing left in our bodies, we lost in 3 to IC Stars 15-1 (whom we beat day one). This was the spark of our successful season. They showed off their amazing love for the game of volleyball and refusal to quit no matter how bad the situation was. This was a moment that I will remember forever and will use to motivate all future teams that I coach.

This isn't a great picture. Look left to spot a player not in the huddle

"It's moments like this that keep me coaching high school volleyball....when its simply about the love for the game and playing with your friends. One of those times when the players teach the coaches something. We are now 52-5 and qualified for USAV Nationals in Ohio. This tournament is what made all of this success possible. The quote I gave them afterward: "when an entire team refuses to quit, refuses to give up, and refuses to settle, the possibilities are INFINITE."
