Samantha Kurtzke

Sam grew up in Montvale, New Jersey where she played volleyball in high school at Pascack Hills and club at DIGS, one of the top clubs in the region. After graduation, she continued her volleyball career at Concordia College in New York. She was a right side and setter, and started in almost every match from her freshman year until she graduated with a degree in elementary education. She was an assistant coach for two 15s and a 17s team at DIGS Volleyball Club. Sam was also a head coach at Downstate VBC for four years, coaching 15s and 16s during that time. Most recently, she was the graduate assistant coach at Concordia College. 

Coach Philosophy:

1. Practice makes permanence not perfection. How you practice is how you will play in a game.
2. No laziness. Hustle for everything/NO one armed passes.
3. Positivity goes both ways. It's important to support each other in a positive/constructive way. It's equally important for to accept it in return
4. No balls hit the floor without at least 3 bodies. That said, everyone knows their roles and who should take any given ball.
5. Communication is key! Always talking when the ball is in play. Be the loudest team in the gym.
