Ray Gray

For over 28 years, Coach Ray has either played, taught, or coached volleyball. In August 2017 Ray was asked to serve as South Carolina State University's Volunteer Coach after training with the team for only a week. Ray is a Director of Volleyball Recruiting at Carolina Juniors (CJV), coaches Middle and High School Gold as well as trains girls of all ages. Ray made the Bronze USA-V Charlotte team in 2012 (nominated Most Improved Player) then played up on the Silver team in 2013. In 2014, Ray decided to start his own Sand Club (Lady Grayhounds) with just 20 girls and today his club has 190 and is still growing. 

Prior to CJV Coach Ray taught volleyball as a PE Teacher at Alton Elementary and Center for Life Enrichment Academy for 3 years in Washington, D.C. For 5 years while in D.C Ray played competitevely with the Goombay Adventures, playing against some of the best that D.C, Maryland and Virginia had to offer. Coach Ray is also a member of USA Volleyball, a certified USA-V referee since 2010 and continues to play in local and Regional Tournaments when time permits. Most impressive however, is Ray's work as a Child Behavior Counselor, Youth Director at his church, Mentor, husband to his wife (Tannia) of 15 years and father to 2 amazing volleyball players Raven (13) and Jordyn (9).
